Jack White Pulls a Kanye at TIFF

A Toronto International Film Festival screening on Friday night proved two things: Jack White does have a sense of humour and Kanye West jokes haven't played themselves out just yet.

A new documentary about White's band, The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights, had just been given a rapturous reception at the Elgin Theatre and director Emmett Malloy was in the middle of a Q&A. He shrugged then ran back offstage as the crowd hooted and applauded. The moment can be viewed on YouTube.

It was the latest parody of rapper West's performance at last Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards when he grabbed the microphone from country star Taylor Swift, mid-acceptance speech, to declare that the Beyoncé video she'd just beaten was "one of the best videos of all time." (thestar.com) (less)
