Sponsored Video: Bud Light Lucky Chair
This year’s Super Bowl featured a number of great commercials, with no shortage of babies, seniors, Americans, football fans, hot girls, cute animals, and even a prom dance, but one of the best easily had to be the Bud Light “Lucky Chair” commercial. The commercial continues the “It’s only crazy if it doesn’t work” campaign that Bud Light has been pushing all season long. Previous commercials have included turning the Bud Light bottle labels outwards before a game winning field goal is kicked and strangers watching games in their old apartments (continuing the trend of the lucky chair).
The commercial features shots of two friends wheeling a very normal looking chair, all over New Orleans, making time to stop and pick up a 6 pack of Bud Light for the journey. At the journey’s end, the two friends happily gift the 6 pack to a bouncer who lays way to a voodoo doctor, played by Stevie Wonder and accompanied by the incredible Zoe Saldana (of Avatar and Star Trek fame). Although Stevie claims he can be of no service to the two friends, Zoe’s character jumps in to meet their request. The next scene is set in a familiar living room setting, shows a new friend proudly proclaiming the chair as his “Lucky Chair”. Moments later, a football announcer from the game they are watching, can be overheard as he explains a field goal is missed. The two original friends tap beers as they successfully cursed the lucky chair, all thanks to the 6 pack of Bud Light that got them in the door to Stevie Wonder’s lair.
The commercial ends with the Twitter hashtag #HereWeGo, continuing campaign they started last year with a commercial featuring a dog named Weego, that fetches Bud Lights for anybody who udders the phrase “Here we go”. Obviously the “Here we go” catch phrase is working if Bud Light is choosing to run it year after year.
